15 Art-Related Closing Gift Ideas for Realtors

Unique gift guide for art-loving clients

Thursday, November 9, 2023

Whether you represent the buyer or the seller in a transaction, a closing gift after a real estate transaction has funded can add to your client’s experience -- and be used as a subtle form of marketing. Many home buyers and sellers like to take pictures of their closing gifts, which is a marketing opportunity for you. Additionally, if it is a thoughtful, well-considered gift, they will likely remember you when referring to their friends or considering future real estate transactions.

With that in mind, here is a gift guide with fifteen art-related closing gifts that any realtor can use to make a significant impact at the close of the sale.

What Are The Best Art-Related Closing Gifts
Realtors Can Give Their Clients?

If you have a client who loves art, they will love one of these art-related closing gifts.

1. Framed Artwork

Any art-loving homeowner would love a framed piece that fits their style, preferences, and home. Art adds beauty to any home, and a statement piece can subtly generate referrals. After all, the home buyers or sellers will think of you when looking at the artwork you’ve gifted them.

A great idea for an artwork gift is a painting (or print) of the local landscape. For example, if your client closed on a house in Palm Springs, you could gift them a painting of palm trees and mountains from the Coachella Valley. If you sold a house in San Diego, gift them with a painting that represents the beauty of San Diego. Artists such as Erin Hanson create painting of iconic scenery from all over the United States, such as California wine country, Lake Tahoe, Texas hill country, Oregon's Willamette Valley, etc.

Because art can vary wildly in price, consider how much the home sold for when determining a closing gift of this kind. For example, a beautiful print may be the right choice for the average home sale. On the other hand, a more expensive home sale may inspire you to spend more and purchase your clients an original piece or 3D Textured Replica

2. Art Calendar

An art calendar is the perfect addition to a gift basket when the sale occurs near the end of the year. Most artists have their calendars out by October and continue to sell calendars through December 31st.

Including an art calendar in a closing gift basket adds some additional beauty to the home and will ensure your clients think about you all year long. Additionally, if the artist is local or one of your client’s favorites, they will be excited to use the calendar throughout the year.

3. Artbook

The classic coffee table book is a beautiful conversation piece that buyers or sellers can enjoy for as long as they live in their new home. The book will add a subtle pop of color to their living room and may keep you at the top of their minds for future referrals.

4. Membership or pass to local museums

Help your clients explore the city or place they’ve moved to by providing a museum membership or pass. If your client is a seller, find out where they are moving to and help them enjoy the new location with this special gift. If you represent the homebuyer, a museum membership is the perfect way to help them feel more comfortable in the new city or town where they moved.

5. Membership or pass to local gardens

Local gardens are beautiful places to enjoy nature, art installations, and new friends. Help your clients become more comfortable with their new location by giving them a membership or pass to a local garden spot. They may fall in love with the area even more - and they will have you to thank for their newfound appreciation.

6. Tickets or seasonal pass to a local theater

Art is not limited to physical works. If your client is a theater fan, sharing local productions may bring them much joy and help them feel comfortable in their new space.

7. Garden art

As mentioned above, many gardens have lovely art installations. You can help your client make their yard unique by gifting them garden art. Depending on the type of home your client has moved to, garden art can be a beautiful addition and remind them of your help every time they walk outdoors.

8. Local guide to galleries along with a special exhibition list

You may not know your client’s taste in art, and that’s okay! Another way to make them feel special and help them explore the new area where they’ve moved is to include a local gallery guide in your closing gift basket. You can even personalize this item by including special upcoming exhibitions that they might enjoy.

9. Custom art piece from a local artist

Homebuyers and sellers often enjoy custom art. It can be incredibly touching to have a piece that depicts their new home, them in front of the home, or even the surrounding landscape. This may also be a thoughtful gift for a seller as they move into a new space, away from their beloved home.

10. Gift certificate to a local gallery or artisan shop

Buying art can feel incredibly personal, which makes it difficult to gift to a homebuyer or seller. However, some local galleries or artisan shops provide gift certificates, which means you can give your clients more choices regarding their art selections.

11. Take them out to an art event

Many galleries have art and wine nights, art walks, or “Second Saturdays.” Take your art-loving client to a fun art-related event to help them find a new favorite local activity.

12. Tickets to see a show

Does your town or city have a show coming to town? Get your client tickets! Cirque du Soleil or an off-Broadway show may be the perfect place for your client to enjoy a unique experience and help them unwind after all that moving.

13. Tickets to a local music venue

Gifting live music, from opera to Taylor Swift, may be perfect for your closing gift. If you have noticed that your client loves a particular music genre or enjoys live concerts, providing tickets to a local venue could help them have a unique experience and fall in love with their new location even more. Additionally, they will likely remember this special gift when their friends mention that they want to buy or sell a home.

14. Paint and wine night

Your client may be the kind of person who likes to unwind while crafting and enjoying wine. Gifting a paint and wine night may be a memorable real estate closing gift.

15. Gift basket with local flavors, styles, and artwork

Many of the above items could be included in a gift basket, while others may be more appropriate as a standalone gift. If you plan to provide a gift basket, look at the list above to determine how you can personalize the basket for any client who loves art.

The Erin Hanson Gallery is local to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, but many of Erin’s artworks showcase the natural beauty of landscapes across the United States. If your client enjoys impressionism, you may like to explore Erin’s portfolio or gift shop.

About Erin

ERIN HANSON has been painting in oils since she was 8 years old. As a teenager, she apprenticed at a mural studio where she worked on 40-foot-long paintings while selling art commissions on the side. After being told it was too hard to make a living as an artist, she got her degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley. Afterward, Erin became a rock climber at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Inspired by the colorful scenery she was climbing, she decided to return to her love of painting and create one new painting every week.

She has stuck to that decision, becoming one of the most prolific artists in history, with over 3,000 oil paintings sold to eager collectors. Erin Hanson’s style is known as "Open Impressionism" and is taught in art schools worldwide. With millions of followers, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of impressionism, inspiring thousands of other artists to pick up the brush.
