About the Artwork
This painting, inspired by my recent trip to Kyoto, Japan, captures an arbor of Japanese cherry trees blossoming overhead. I love how cherry trees are pruned in Japan to create beautiful, arching branches. I captured the white and pink blossoms with thickly applied brush strokes of oil paint laid side-by-side, like a mosaic tapestry of color.
