This is the first painting I created after my recent inspirational trip to France to follow in the footsteps of the Impressionists. I started out in Paris, visiting many of the parks where the early impressionists and post-impressionists painted. Then I took a river boat along the Seine River, stopping in Giverny to see Monet's Garden and Rouen to see "Monet's" cathedral, and ending in Le Havre and Etretat. This painting of Etretat captures the stunning white limestone cliffs on the northern coast of Normandy, France. Monet was inspired to paint this same unique rock formation 140 years ago.

I can't pass up the opportunity to paint a dramatic skyscape when I have the chance! This painting was inspired by my explorations this spring through Texas Hill Country. The buttery yellow color of the sky was too tempting not to paint. I visited the Oregon Cascades for the first time a few years ago, and I was amazed by the drop-dead gorgeous colors I saw there.
