Goddard Retrospective 2018

Open Impressionism: The Works of Erin Hanson was a retrospective of the early works and developmental pieces that led to Hanson's current style of Open Impressionism. This exhibition, which spanned 4 gallery showrooms, was the first comprehensive presentation of Hanson's career. Organized by the Goddard Center for Fine Arts, this exhibition featured a selection of never-before-exhibited works from Hanson's personal collection as well as paintings highlighting her prolific output over the previous decade and a half. Open Impressionism is a new style and movement which has sparked fresh enthusiasm for contemporary Impressionism. Erin Hanson’s best-known works include Crystal Light, Field of Blooms, and The Path.

Hanson has always been drawn to the dramatic in landscapes, and nothing is as dramatic as the wide open desertscapes and majestic buttes of Utah and Arizona. The landscape is almost too incredible to take in, and Hanson has painted it over and over, trying to recapture the magic she feels when she sees it in person. <b>Note: This painting is available for pre-purchase and will be included in the <i><a href="https://www.erinhanson.com/Event/SearsArtMuseum" target="_blank">Erin Hanson: Landscapes of the West</a> </i>solo museum exhibition at the Sears Art Museum in St. George, Utah. This museum exhibition, located at the gateway to Zion National Park, will showcase Erin Hanson's largest collection of Western landscape paintings, including paintings of Zion, Bryce, Arches, Cedar Breaks, Arizona, and other Western inspirations. The show will be displayed from June 7 to August 23, 2024. This painting was included in the exhibition <i><a href="https://www.erinhanson.com/Event/ContemporaryImpressionismatGoddardCenter" target="_blank">Open Impressionism: The Works of Erin Hanson</i></a>, a 10-year retrospective and study of the development of Open Impressionism at The Goddard Center in Ardmore, OK. This painting was exhibited at <i>Erin Hanson: Landscapes of the West </i> solo museum exhibition at the Sears Art Museum in St. George, Utah. About the Painting: This was the first Open Impressionism painting created in Red Rock Canyon, painted on the first morning after Hanson moved to Las Vegas when she was camping out in the desert. This painting remains in the artist's private collection.
