I went to Kyoto, Japan, to photograph the cherry blossoms this spring, and I saw many Japanese maple trees with brand new, bright green leaves just beginning to emerge. The miniature, star-shaped leaves were like a delicate veil of filigree overhead, held up by graceful branches. This abstract impressionist painting captures the beauty of the Japanese maple tree in the springtime.
