Impressions of California: Solo Exhibit by Erin Hanson
September 1st - September 25th, 2016
Studios on the Park, Downtown Paso Robles, California
Erin Hanson first discovered Paso Robles during a romantic getaway, a trip that was initially scheduled to continue up the coast through Carmel and Big Sur. On that fateful day, Hanson stopped dead in her tracks, entranced by the beauty of Paso Robles.
Hanson proceeded to spend the week exploring Paso’s classic rolling green hills and expansive views. She drove for days through the winding outskirts of town, weaving through shadows cast by looming trees and gnarled branches. She watched the early dawn light embrace the softly rounded hills and brighten into blue skies dancing with puffy clouds. Each sunset brought a new vista of saturated color and more inspiration for the artist.
At this time, Hanson, an already accomplished impressionistic artist, had spent the previous 4 years rock climbing and exploring the desert landscapes of Utah, Nevada, and Southern California. Her first trip to Paso Robles was a pivotal point in her career, causing an abrupt change in painting subject matter. A few hundred paintings later, Hanson’s paintings of California wine country have become synonymous with Paso Robles, her bright and colorful paintings still capturing the magic Hanson felt 6 years ago when she first discovered Paso. Erin Hanson’s intense dedication to her craft can be likened only to the great masters of impressionism with which she is so frequently compared.
Erin Hanson showcases her work annually at Studios on the Park, in downtown Paso Robles. Her month-long exhibitions, showcasing dozens of original oil paintings, are eagerly awaited by locals and travelers alike. In September, 2016, Hanson is honored to present her 5th annual solo exhibition at Studios on the Park.
This year Hanson will be presenting a collection of landscapes inspired by the diverse regions of California, from the Sierras to the coast, from dusky deserts to wild sunsets.
We welcome you to immerse yourself in the world of Erin Hanson at this month-long exhibition.

ERIN HANSON is a life-long painter, beginning her study of oil painting at eight years old. As a teenager, she worked in a mural studio creating paintings for restaurants and casinos around the world. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Hanson studied Bioengineering while continuing to pursue her artistic passion.
Inspired by rock climbing Red Rock Canyon and the southern California desert, Hanson has since spent almost a decade painting the dramatic scenery of Utah, Nevada, Arizona and California. Erin Hanson has created a unique style of her own, bringing elements of classic impressionism together with modern expressionism and adding a dash of “plein-air style.” Her oil paintings stand out in a crowd, bringing a fresh new look to contemporary Western landscapes.
