Renowned artist Erin Hanson embarked on a transformative journey through France, following in the footsteps of two pioneering painters whose works have profoundly influenced Erin’s love of art and impressionism for decades: Monet and van Gogh. As a result of this inspiring journey, Erin has created a new collection titled Reflections of the Seine: Inspirations from France as a love letter to the artists who first inspired her in her formative years.
Beginning her adventure in the heart of Paris, Erin immersed herself in the same parks and landscapes that inspired these early masters. Her goal was to visit as many famously painted locations as she could in two weeks. From Paris, she embarked on a scenic riverboat tour along the Seine River, stopping at iconic destinations such as Giverny, where Monet's Garden blooms in timeless splendor, and Rouen, immortalized by Monet's brushstrokes on its cathedral.

Continuing her voyage along the picturesque Normandy coast, Erin marveled at the coastal Le Havre and cliffs of Etretat, capturing their breathtaking beauty. Her journey south led her to the vineyards of Bordeaux, where she was entranced by the very water lily farm that supplied Monet’s famed gardens, still flourishing with hundreds of vibrant water lily varieties.

Venturing eastward into Provence, Erin explored the landscapes that inspired van Gogh in Arles and Saint-Remy-de-Provence, where she visited the very room where he created some of his most famous works. In Aix-en-Provence, she stood in the footsteps of Cezanne, admiring the mountain immortalized in his paintings. Passing through the high plateaus of Provence, she discovered endless rolling hills of lavender and sunflowers, with the blue peaks of the Swiss Alps as the backdrop. Her journey concluded amidst the warm Mediterranean winds of the French Riviera, where she captured the essence of the region's vibrant hues and took in views famously painted by Monet and Renoir over a hundred years ago.

Throughout her travels, Erin awakened before dawn to capture the golden hours of sunrise, as well as the beautiful light of sunset. The golden hour infuses Erin’s paintings with the same ethereal light that inspired the Impressionists.
Erin will unveil her new collection of paintings inspired by this journey on Saturday, September 14th, at her gallery and studio, located in the heart of Oregon wine country. We invite art enthusiasts to come experience firsthand the culmination of her inspiring expedition.

About Erin
ERIN HANSON has been painting in oils since she was 8 years old. As a teenager, she apprenticed at a mural studio where she worked on 40-foot-long paintings while selling art commissions on the side. After being told it was too hard to make a living as an artist, she got her degree in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley. Afterward, Erin became a rock climber at Red Rock Canyon, Nevada. Inspired by the colorful scenery she was climbing, she decided to return to her love of painting and create one new painting every week.
She has stuck to that decision, becoming one of the most prolific artists in history, with over 3,000 oil paintings sold to eager collectors. Erin Hanson’s style is known as "Open Impressionism" and is taught in art schools worldwide. With millions of followers, Hanson has become an iconic, driving force in the rebirth of impressionism, inspiring thousands of other artists to pick up the brush.
